Our taxi was a black Cadillac SUV with a very entertaining driver for our five minute drive from the Abuello's restaurant to the Drury Inn. She gave us the name and number of a taxi company the hotel uses for times when the shuttle does not run. As our flight into KC was delayed by several hours, our shuttle driver drove us to the Zona Rosa area about a mile and a half from the hotel so we could still catch a late dinner before 10 pm. The mattress was still spongy and the walls could some more sound proofing. The rooms had been all updated with plenty of ports/outlets for cell phones and laptops. The lobby and breakfast area had a complete and stylish make over. Since our last visit in December, it did receive a very nice re-do. The Drury Inn near the Kansas City International airport has needed a refreshening for a few years now. It was slightly pricier than other hotels but it was worth it and I had a good time. Service was great and staff was friendly. Breakfast was nice, typical hotel motel food. The fridge was unplugged so that was a small ordeal, then I discovered the tv was unplugged. The air conditioner kept up with the hot temps outside and was smooth and quiet. The room was clean and beds were soft and comfy. The atmosphere was family party like, however there were many single adults and I jealously watched them all (I am single but had kids and mother with me lol). The happy hour food served from 530 to 7 was great, and the free adult beverages the best. I told the front desk my kids wanted to swim, and we were given the room right near the pool. I checked in and the walk in rate was the same online. The pool is an outdoor/indoor pool which means you can swim indoors or outdoors by swimming underneath the barrier, or by walking in or out the door.
